If you're looking for pixels, you've come to the right place! We've got a million
of the little things.
Pixels on ThePixelWorld.com are available in 400 pixel 'blocks', with each block measuring 20x20 pixels. You will see the homepage is divided into 2500 of these blocks. Each 20x20 block costs US$ 4, equating to a cost of $0,01 per pixel. You can buy as many blocks of pixels as you like, as long as there are some available (see the live stats at the top of the page). |
The minimum purchase is $4 (400 pixels), and the maximum purchase is whatever
is left.
When you 'buy' pixels you will not 'own' any part of the homepage or this site, but rather you are granted the right to submit an image and link which will then be published on the homepage in the respective space you have paid for. If for some reason you need a change to your image, link or ALT tag (eg. your site no longer exists, major structural change to your site, lawsuits, etc.) just login with your username and password in the "MANAGE PIXELS" section. |
If your image and link are accepted and published on the homepage, you cannot get
a refund.
The site and homepage will be online for at least 3 years (starting from the day it launched), so at least until 20th November 2008, but possibly even longer (that's the aim). If for whatever reason in the future you want your image and link removed from the homepage, you can do that, but you will not get a refund and the space will become publically available again. |
To buy some pixel-blocks just open the "BUY PIXELS" link (picture 1) and select
the pixel-blocks you want to buy (picture 2).
If you have selected some wrong pixel-blocks you can click the "Reset" button at the top of the page. Click the "Buy Pixels" button (picture 3) if you have selected all pixel-blocks you want. In this case you will bee taken to a summary page showing the pixel-blocks you selected and if they are still available. |
You have to pay within 15 minutes otherwise your pixel-blocks will become available
for other users.
Just follow the PayPal instructions to pay, you will get 2 e-mails: one from PayPal with all your payment details, and one from ThePixelWorld.com containing your username and password. For any kind of problem please send an e-mail to info@thepixelworld.com. Once you have got you username and password enter the "MANAGE PIXELS" section (picture 4). |
Here you can upload an image and edit the URL and ALT tag for each pixel block you
own.
The only thing you have to do is select the pixel-blocks you want to modify (Picture 5), choose an image to put on and then click on the "Upload" button (Picture 6). Do the same thing if you want to enter a link URL or an ALT tag (picture 7) for your pixel-blocks. Images must not be the exact size you have paid for (eg. 400 pixels = 20x20 pixels), the overflowing part of the image will be automatically clipped when you upload it. |
Images must be in GIF, JPEG, or BMP format, and a reasonable file size; images
must NOT be animated (imagine how messy the homepage would look).
Links must be to web pages only and begin with http:// You must have the authority to provide the image and link for the website you submit. TITLE/ALT text for your image can be max. 50 characters (TITLE/ALT text appears when people hover their cursor over your image). |
